Usually, our bridal gowns take around six months to arrive in the studio, as in an effort to become more sustainable, they are all handmade upon order. Your dress may then need a few bridal alterations by a seamstress to make it perfectly fitted to you. We recommend making an appointment with a seamstress 2-3 months prior to your wedding day, so with that in mind we think a comfortable time to start looking is 10-18 months prior to your big day. 2027 brides – it’s your turn!

A large part of our bridal shop is also dedicated to ‘off-the-peg’ wedding dresses and sample sale bridal gowns, which you can take home the very same day for at least 30% below their ticket price!

As experienced stylists, we’ll pull wedding dresses for you, but of course, you’ll browse the rails too! It’s a journey to understand what you love, working through the appointment to find your perfect gown and have your say yes to the dress moment!
Some brides find it first appointment, first dress, but many try on lots of dresses and have multiple appointments – you do do!
Following your experience, you’ll receive an email – your ‘Sorella appointment story’ – so you’ll have all the details of the gown(s) you fell for!
At Sorella we can comfortably accommodate four bridal squad members in our suites. You’re more than welcome to bring more, but some of your VIPs may have to perch on the floor.
When choosing who you will bring with you… this is your day to find your dream wedding dress, so choose who you would like to share this special time with – people you are totally comfortable around who you know will give honest feedback, respectfully.
Remember your initial appointment isn’t your only one, so you can always invite other VIPs to your fitting appointments!
Children are welcome, but we all know how much little ones can demand our attention and we want you to enjoy an exciting, relaxing experience, so it might be best to bring someone to keep little ones calm throughout or find a date for some me time.

Stocking our studio is a complex job of picking out a wide range of styles, silhouettes, price points and sizes, so keep an open mind when looking for your perfect dress. Feeling a little body conscious? We love making you feel good! We’ll make sure you feel totally comfortable throughout your appointment in terms of privacy in the fitting room too!
We carry out various customisations in-studio and create bespoke bridal accessories too.
Elements like designing sleeves, creating a neck scarf, raising a plunge neckline or adding buttons to a train are examples of tweaks we can make happen to your wedding dress without leaving our bridal shop in Northallerton.
We also offer a design service for custom veils and accessories, if you want to make your dress more unique to you, including bespoke embroidery veils and bridal sleeves.
All these options will be discussed at your initial appointment and we are completely transparent with our pricing.
For bridal alterations that are a little more complex, we will share with you our highly recommended, local seamstress based in North Yorkshire and County Durham.
Absolutely! We currently stock a range of beautiful veils, shoes, sleeves and belts in our North Yorkshire bridal shop.

You’ll pay a 50% deposit when ordering your dress. The remaining 50% balance is due at your fitting appointment, which we’d book within 30 days of your gown arriving into the studio.
If you buy an off the peg wedding dress, you can choose to take it home the same day, or we offer a ‘Storage & Steaming’ service for brides.
Our ‘Try & Buy’ service with Maggie Sottero is a bit like online shopping for bridal. It allows you to ‘borrow’ their dresses to try on with us that we don’t usually have in our studio stock.
Seen a Sottero & Midgley ball gown or Rebecca Ingram lace mermaid on Maggie’s website that you just have to try on? Get in touch and we can make some arrangements with the brand to borrow it for our bridal shop just for you!
There is a small £10-per-dress fee for this service to cover shipping costs.
